I think that’s actually really smart! Instead of glorifying wealth like Uzi usually does, it shows how he’s lost so many friends at this point, the only people who he can trust are the ones on those dollar bills, showing Uzi fall deeper and deeper into an unhealthy lifestyle. TM88 says Uzi’s “dead friends” are dollar bills, seeing as money is sometimes referred to as “dead presidents” (Which isn’t completely right because Ben Franklin was not a president and once Andrew Jackson is replaced with Harriet Tubman she also isn’t on but off topic). “Push me to the edge” is self-explanatory, but “all my friends are dead” is a fascinating lyric. I’ve heard two different interpretations of this lyric. “Push me to the edge, all my friends are dead” A relationship that has gotten so toxic, feelings are thrown out the window, there’s no love left, and even threatening suicide if it ends. But the lyrics describe a darker picture. In this case… okay it’s missing one of those elements, but you can take Uzi’s delivery as him being worn out and sick of the fighting he constantly faces with this girl. If you want to capture the feeling of a terrible argument, you gotta capture both. Okay so, I like this WAY more than You Was Right so far! My problem with that song (aside from being as fun to listen to as radio static) is that even though it’s about a couple fighting, there’s no fire in Uzi’s delivery or any uncomfortable imagery in the lyrics. “Shoudla saw the way she looked me in my eyes, she said baby I am not afraid to die” Oh! So this is a break up song? Like, the argument leading up to the end of a relationship because of cheating and manipulation? Okay then. For a guy whose lyrics rarely amount to more than “I do drugs and fuck your girlfriend”, there’s actually a lot to unpack with this song! Let’s dive in, shall we?

And the main reason why I wanted to save this song for a full review was, weirdly enough, the lyrics. Now, if the production was the only thing this song had, I wouldn’t have reviewed this. Here, Uzi goes crazy with his vocals, but he keeps it on beat and it sounds coherent! There’s no disconnect between him and the production, and I really wish he did that more often! It sounds sloppy and not fun when that happens. Songs like Money Longer are really messy, and while that can work in some situations, it’s usually just Lil Uzi being off beat as if he never heard the beat behind him. What that means is it doesn’t feel loose or off beat. But he’s made tons of beats for other rappers before, and as far as I can tell, he’s not that bad! He co-produced one of my favorite tracks off of Young Thug’s mixtape Jeffery (Kanye West), and even had a hand in my favorite Travis Scott song, Nightcrawler! And hey, the beat he made here is good too! I think the main reason why this beat does a lot for me is, of the Uzi songs I’ve heard, this is easily the tightest. I’m going to start with the production, which is easily the main reason I like this song! It’s not a great beat, it’s a rubbery melody and Uzi still croons over some of it, but it’s still pretty catchy! It has a unique, spacey sound that I can pretty easily get into! This is produced by TM88, which as far as I can tell is not a Pokemon reference sadly. I almost put it in the good tier! So obviously I like the song, and yeah, surprisingly enough, I do! Why though? Why this song if it doesn’t do much different from other Uzi songs? Or does it?

Hell, not just that, top of the decent tier. Paak deserved it more, but if you saw my Summer Top 20 ranking, I put this song in the decent tier. This would be the part of the review where I would express distaste in Uzi getting a Top 10 hit when so many other XXL freshmen from last year like Anderson. With this newfound success, Uzi decided to release a song he played during The Weeknd’s XO tour that his fans adored to all platforms, officially titled it “XO TOUR Llif3”, and here we are.

Still, it was a popular fad, and it sent Migos and Lil Uzi up to #1, likely to be the biggest rap hit of the year. I can ignore it fine seeing as it’ll probably be irrelevant in a few years. Still not good at all, but it’s more boring than anything outright awful.

I was begging to God that it would be the last time we heard of him, but unfortunately Bad And Boujee happened. It might as well just been a three-minute dial tone. You Was Right exposed Uzi’s sleazy side and was incredibly boring to boot. Hell, it might have been worse because at least Money Longer TRIED to be a banger. I didn’t have a great first impression thanks to Money Longer, a headache of a song with an irritating beat and Uzi shouting over the track off beat. In this group of new rappers coming into plague the mainstream, while he isn’t the worst we’ve gotten, he’s easily the most obnoxious.
